Album of the Year?

The new year is upon us and that makes me wonder, "What was my favorite album of 2010?". Since I am Hecoxian, I naturally have my iTunes library organized chronologically, with a separate playlist of albums for each month of the year. I like to know when I really dug into an album, even if it wasn't released that month, or even that year.  Also, it prevents me from putting an album in my library and forgetting to listen to it.

I just counted, and there are 87 albums that I imported into iTunes in 2010. I listened to each one all the way through at least one time. I most often listen to an album about three times before moving on, just in case there's a 'sleeper' song or two I didn't notice right away. If I really like a particular song, I'll place it in another playlist and start a mix, but that's another story.

As you may know, iTunes keeps track of how many times you play a song.  My most played  song of 2010 was Greg Laswell's Around the Bend with 75 plays. That doesn't count iPod plays, of course, or my listening at work. Songs by Rooney, Goldfrapp, and Everest also hovered near the top.

It was hard to pick, but my top five albums of 2010 are:

Midlake - The Courage of Others
Released 2010
Everest - On Approach
Released 2010

Temper Trap - Conditions
Released 2009

Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize, Live in Tilburg '08
Released 2010

Greg Laswell - Take A Bow
Released 2010

If you check back on Sunday night, I will feature the album that took my top spot for 2010.

Happy New Year!

Haha! You made me laugh so hard with your Hecoxian ways of organizing your music like that. Thanks for posting that pic. :)

Wow, I'm glad you got a kick out of it. Should I be pleased or embarrassed? BTW, if you want me to organize your itunes library, or your new Ikea closet, or anything else, you just let me know. ; )
