New Music Sunday 4 - A Silent Film

Today I'm featuring a new band that a co-worker suggested to me just this past week. There's not a lot out there on the net about this band, likely because these guys haven't hit it big. They opened for Temper Trap at the Crystal Ballroom here in Portland this month. The album is titled "The City That Sleeps" and was released April 13, 2010.  Based in Oxford, UK, the band members are Robert Stevenson - Vocals/Piano, Karl Bareham - Guitar,  Ali Hussain - Bass and Spencer Walker - Drums.

I've read people compare A Silent Film to Coldplay, Keane, and the Killers. With this in mind, you can guess correctly that the album is not ground breaking, but it's pretty good for a debut. Since I've only been listening to it for a few days myself, it's hard to give a proper review. I've enjoyed the piano elements a lot and my favorite song so far is track 5 - "Julie June". A Silent Film have a Facebook page, naturally, but what struck me about it was that the band was responding to most of the fan posts.

I think your rating is too high. They bore me. Not the high quality of music find we, who follow the Hecoxian way, have come to expect. I think after a few more listens you may adjust your rating...How can you give Santana a 5 out of 10 and these moose knuckles a 6.5? C'mon Dave ;}
